Episode 4 - Muthu gets an answer

Muthu finally gathered courage to write to Ricky Neo on a Saturday night a week after the crew’s conversation. It was a well constructed email, he triple-checked to make sure there were no grammatical and punctuation errors.

“Boing!” Muthu was shocked. Reply within 30 minutes! It was a short reply, but he re-read it a few times to make sure he wasn’t imagining it.

“Fabulous! Would love to speak – Zoom meeting tomorrow 10am. Link below.”

Time just flew by. They didn’t realise they had been speaking for two hours.

Ricky carefully listened to each of them. He was fascinated.

Ricky: “Now, I would like you to write down these two points. Get your notebooks.”

No. 7 – Ability to Solve the Hidden Problem

“A key trait that makes actuaries valuable is our ability to peer beneath the surface – point out and solve the problem our client didn’t even know they had. That’s how we truly add value.”

No. 8 – Continually expanding knowledge and skillset

“An actuary is not limited by what she doesn’t know, but is limited by what she isn’t willing to learn. Continue learning new tools, skills and subjects that will improve your abilities.”
