We’re here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark.” – Whoopi Goldberg
Life-long learning and mentors are cornerstones of actuarial development. Mentors come in many ages, shapes, sizes and hues. Many of them are likely non-actuarial or even outside the corporate life. But there’s no doubt about the impact they have had and will have in our lives and careers. Most if not all actuaries are passionate about mentoring. Some do it quietly and some do it more visibly. Here are some of our LinkedIn actuarial friends who are passionate mentors (need not be personal mentoring) and have content very beneficial for #actuarial students and actuaries. I highly recommend them – they have very unique, valuable insights. Tan Suee Chieh (President of the IFoa) Vy Le (Actuary at Canada Life) Adil Virani (Actuary at Zurich Insurance, Canada) Kislay Actuarial Education (Non-Profit Actuarial Education) founded by Charchit Agrawal (Appointed Actuary at QBE Insurance, Malaysia) Brea Fried, ASA (Founder at Etched Actuarial) Mark Farrell PhD FIA (Founder of ProActuary & Senior Lecturer of Actuarial Science at Queen’s University Belfast) Tim Rozar (Chief of Staff to the CEO at Reinsurance Group of America)
