The Cosmic Bond - ep 4

Previously: Episode 3

Dhruva sat in the lush palace garden, a sanctuary of tranquility where vibrant blossoms swayed gently in the breeze, and the melodious chirping of birds filled the air with a symphony of nature. He was deep in thought, reflecting on the whirlwind of changes that had swept through his life in the past year. It was only twelve months ago that Princess Lyra had entered his world, a presence so profound that it altered the very course of his existence and the fate of the Magadha Empire.

The unexpected war with the Kosalya Empire had turned into an unforeseen blessing. What initially seemed like a calamity had become a catalyst for admiration and respect from distant kingdoms. As news of Magadha's triumph spread, powerful empires pledged their allegiance to King Dhruva, and trade routes flourished anew, restoring the empire to its ancient glory.

Yet, amidst these grand achievements, Dhruva's heart was ensnared by a more personal struggle. Lyra... Her name alone stirred a tempest of emotions within him. He was torn between the fear of confessing his feelings and the fear of letting the opportunity slip away. The thought of her returning to her distant homeland filled him with a profound sorrow that shadowed every joyful moment they shared.

Lost in these thoughts, Dhruva was startled by Lyra's gentle presence beside him. She sat quietly, her hand finding his. "What's troubling you, Dhruva?" she asked softly.

His usual composure crumbled, and words tumbled from his lips before he could restrain them. "I'm afraid to speak, I'm afraid not to speak, Lyra...about us..." he confessed, his voice trembling with emotion.

Lyra's eyes met his, her gaze steady and warm. A reassuring smile played on her lips. "Dhruva, let us then shed this fear and speak what we feel."

Taking a deep breath, Dhruva finally voiced the truth that had been locked in his heart. "Lyra, I'm in love with you... I... I..."

Her response was immediate and heartfelt. "Dhruva, I love you too."

A wave of joy and relief washed over Dhruva, sending shivers down his spine. Overwhelmed with emotion, he embraced Lyra, feeling the warmth of her presence as if it were a balm for his soul.

But even in this moment of bliss, a question lingered. "But Lyra, your home is so far away... How will we be together?"

Lyra said lovingly, "Dhruva, time and space are illusions of the mind. There is no separation for two souls in true love, as the two are indeed one..."
