The Pole Star

On this blessed day, O one of many names,

The One who guides those who wish to see,

The One who pleads with us to seek,

The One who provides shelter to the lowly and meek,

Lend thy light, keep us on the path…

The One whose light is lustrous like a gem,

Shining ever bright as the pole star,

The ever patient One, The ever gracious One,

The One who prayed for the tormentors while tormented,

Bless us that we may bear our cross with elegance…

A bewildering world, where the blind lead the blind,

Dancing with glee, the mad dance of blind ignorance,

Drunken with pride, drunken with the senses,

Drunken with sorrow, drunken with trivialities,

Falling into a ditch, shall we follow them too?

Ah grant us the vision, to see what is true...

Purity of the heart, clarity of the mind,

An intellect sharp and piercing,

Energy and health, to wield them all,

Grant me these, for I am thy instrument..
