Alas, do we not see, how deeply we are caged…
Sight, touch, taste, sound, smell, is this all that matters?
Elation, depression, hope, fear, all in this little world of five walls,
Do we not believe in the world beyond these?
There, can’t we see, the light coming in from beyond?
There is more to this, there is life beyond these walls!
Caged in by these bars, we think all is well,
Reason and logic, limited by the walls..
Again and again we fall into this prison,
The prison room changes, with decorations and painting,
We hope and long for more comfortable rooms,
Oh my dear mind, do you not understand, a prison is a prison?
See over there, that prisoner breaks free!
The jailers don’t do much, they clap in joy and patch the walls up..
Come, now we know the secret, here is the shovel,
Dig and dig, don’t get distracted..
The prison has its routines, the fellow prisoners give limited wisdom,
There is no need to argue, let us do what we must..
